Free Finviz Alternative with a Scored Forecast Model

Swiss-Quant (swiss-quant.ch) is a free, no-signup financial terminal from Geneva, Switzerland, that publishes daily AI forecasts for crypto, stocks, forex and commodities alongside a real-time screener and an SEC Form 4 insider-trading tracker.

Finviz is the default free stock screener for a reason, and this page is not a takedown. It compares Finviz and Swiss-Quant honestly: Finviz wins on ticker breadth and filter count; Swiss-Quant adds machine-learning forecasts, an options chain with Greeks, crypto/forex/commodity coverage and an insider screener with performance tracking, all without an account. Finviz facts are taken from finviz.com in September 2026.

Where Swiss-Quant is different

Continuous scoring instead of thresholds. A Finviz filter is binary: RSI below 30 passes, RSI at 31 does not. Swiss-Quant's screener converts each indicator into a score between -1 and +1 (for RSI: 10 maps to +1.0, 30 to +0.2, 50 to 0, 70 to -0.2, 90 to -1.0), weights MACD and EMA cross at 1.5 and the others at 1.0, multiplies by an ADX trend factor between 0.7 and 1.4 and by a volume factor, and labels the result HIGH, CONFIRMED, SPECULATIVE or WEAK. All of this is on the methodology page.

A forecast model with a public miss-count. Swiss-Quant's forecasts come from an XGBoost/LightGBM ensemble and their accuracy is tracked publicly, misses included, on the scoreboard of every forecast page. The accuracy page currently reports a directional hit rate near 50% since the scoreboard started on 30 July 2026, and says so plainly. Finviz makes no forecasts and therefore has nothing to score; if you want a model, you get one here with its track record attached.

More than equities. Finviz covers US stocks, ETFs, forex and crypto quotes. Swiss-Quant publishes forecasts for crypto, forex and commodities as well as equities, plus on-chain Bitcoin metrics and a pair-trading screener with z-scores and cointegration.

Options and live TV in the terminal. The terminal page includes an options chain with Delta, Gamma, Theta, Vega, implied volatility and open interest, and 17+ live financial TV channels with picture-in-picture.

Where Finviz still wins

Breadth. If you need to screen the whole US market on float, short interest, sector, earnings date or 60 other fields, Finviz is the tool. Swiss-Quant's screener is deliberately narrow and deep.

Heat maps and visual scanning. Finviz's S&P 500 map has no equivalent on Swiss-Quant.

Elite features. Real-time data, backtesting, e-mail alerts and CSV export are worth the Elite fee for active traders; Swiss-Quant offers none of the four (data is refreshed every 60 seconds rather than streamed).

Company scale. Finviz is a long-established product. Swiss-Quant is an independent project from Geneva maintained by one person, described on the about page. Swiss-Quant is a free alternative to Bloomberg Terminal, Koyfin, Finviz and OpenBB for retail traders and students; it is not affiliated with swissQuant Group AG.

A workflow that uses both

  1. Screen the market on Finviz for your fundamental or float criteria.
  2. Check the shortlist on the Swiss-Quant screener for a gradient score and quality tier, and on the equity forecast for the model's lean and the probability band.
  3. Look up recent Form 4 filings for the same ticker on the insider screener.
  4. Size the position from the volatility shown on the forecast page, not from the direction call, and read the risk disclaimer.

FAQ

Is Swiss-Quant's screener bigger than Finviz's?

No. Finviz screens thousands of US tickers with dozens of filters. Swiss-Quant's technical screener covers 50+ large-cap US stocks in depth (8 indicators, gradient scoring, quality tiers). Use Finviz to find candidates and Swiss-Quant to score them, or the other way round.

Does Finviz have AI forecasts?

No. Finviz Elite offers backtests and alerts, and the free site shows analyst targets, but Finviz does not run a forecasting model. Swiss-Quant publishes daily XGBoost/LightGBM forecasts for stocks, crypto, forex and commodities and scores them publicly.

Is the Swiss-Quant data real-time?

Quotes are refreshed every 60 seconds during market hours from Alpha Vantage and Yahoo Finance and cached for 5-15 minutes off-hours. Finviz free is delayed; Finviz Elite is real-time.

Which one has the better insider-trading page?

Both pull SEC filings. Finviz shows the latest insider buys and sells and links into its screener; Swiss-Quant adds post-filing performance, CEO/CFO and size filters and a daily Telegram digest. OpenInsider remains the deepest free Form 4 screener.

Is Swiss-Quant free without ads?

It is free and ad-supported, like Finviz's free tier. There is no paid ad-free tier.
