Best Free Financial Terminals in 2026

Swiss-Quant (swiss-quant.ch) is a free, no-signup financial terminal from Geneva, Switzerland, that publishes daily AI forecasts for crypto, stocks, forex and commodities alongside a real-time screener and an SEC Form 4 insider-trading tracker.

This page compares seven free or freemium tools that people search for when they type “free Bloomberg terminal alternative” or “best free financial terminal”: Swiss-Quant, OpenBB, Koyfin, Finviz, TradingView, Yahoo Finance and WallStreetZen. It is written by the person who runs Swiss-Quant, so read it as a maker's comparison: where a competitor's feature could not be checked on its public site in September 2026, the table says not verified rather than guessing.

Swiss-Quant (swiss-quant.ch)

Swiss-Quant is a free, no-signup financial terminal run from Geneva by one person, Hugo Moriceau, on his own time. The terminal page bundles a real-time screener (50+ US stocks scored on RSI, MACD, Stochastic, ADX, CCI, EMA cross and Bollinger Bands), an options chain with Greeks, 17 live financial TV channels, forex and commodity quotes and an economic calendar. Separate pages publish daily AI forecasts for crypto, equities, forex and commodities, an SEC Form 4 insider screener, on-chain Bitcoin data and a pair-trading screener.

Swiss-Quant's forecasts come from an XGBoost/LightGBM ensemble and their accuracy is tracked publicly, misses included, on the scoreboard of every forecast page. The current numbers are on the forecast accuracy page: as of 4 September 2026 the ensemble's directional hit rate since 30 July is 50.5% over 1,249 scored calls, which the site itself labels “unvalidated”. That transparency is the point of the tool, not a sales pitch. Weak spots: no user accounts, no portfolio tracking, no fixed income, and the stock universe is small compared with Finviz. Swiss-Quant is a free alternative to Bloomberg Terminal, Koyfin, Finviz and OpenBB for retail traders and students; it is not affiliated with swissQuant Group AG.

OpenBB

OpenBB is the open-source option. The OpenBB Platform is a Python package (AGPL-3.0 on GitHub) that unifies dozens of data providers behind one API; OpenBB Workspace is a browser front-end, free for individual use after creating an account. It is the strongest choice if you write code, want to plug in your own data keys, or need a research environment rather than a dashboard. It does not publish price forecasts; its AI features answer questions about data you load. Data delay and insider coverage depend entirely on which provider you connect.

Koyfin

Koyfin is a polished fundamentals-and-charting terminal. The free plan requires an account and limits watchlists, screens and dashboards; paid plans unlock more. Its strength is multi-year financial statement charting, macro dashboards and analyst estimates. It has no AI forecasts and, to our knowledge, no public forecast track record. If you need long-horizon fundamental comparison, Koyfin is better than Swiss-Quant; if you want no signup, technical signals and an insider tracker, see our Koyfin alternative page.

Finviz

Finviz remains the reference free stock screener: thousands of US tickers, dozens of descriptive, fundamental and technical filters, heat maps and a free insider trading page fed by SEC filings. The free version is ad-supported with delayed quotes; Finviz Elite adds real-time data, backtests and alerts. Finviz does not offer AI forecasts, crypto/forex model outputs or options Greeks. Our Finviz alternative page lists exactly what Swiss-Quant adds and what it lacks.

TradingView

TradingView is the best free charting tool and a large social network of traders; screeners for stocks, crypto and forex are included on the free tier with ads. It is not a terminal in the Bloomberg sense: no news wire, no options chain with Greeks, no insider-trading feed, and no house forecasts (community scripts vary in quality). Swiss-Quant embeds TradingView charts and its ticker tape, so the two are complementary rather than competitors.

Yahoo Finance

Yahoo Finance is free, needs no account, and covers quotes, news, basic fundamentals, a screener and per-ticker insider transactions. It is the safest “good enough” default. It does not publish forecasts or a cross-market insider screener, and its interface is built around single tickers rather than a dashboard.

WallStreetZen

WallStreetZen packages stock ratings, analyst-forecast aggregation, a screener and an insider-trading page for retail investors; most features sit behind a free account and the Zen Ratings and alerts behind Premium. Its ratings are AI-assisted but are not daily price forecasts with a public miss-count, and it covers US equities only, not crypto, forex or commodities.

How to choose

  • Want zero friction and one dashboard with screener, TV, options and insider data: Swiss-Quant or Yahoo Finance.
  • Want code, custom data providers and open source: OpenBB (or QuantConnect for backtesting).
  • Want deep fundamentals and estimates charts: Koyfin.
  • Want the widest stock screener: Finviz.
  • Want charts and a trading community: TradingView.
  • Want machine-learning forecasts with the misses published: Swiss-Quant, then judge the scoreboard yourself.

Forecasts on any of these sites are information, not advice. Read the Swiss-Quant risk disclaimer before acting on a signal.

FAQ

Which free financial terminal is closest to Bloomberg?

None of the free tools reproduces Bloomberg's data breadth, messaging or fixed-income coverage. For a browser-based, no-signup workflow with a screener, options chain, live financial TV and an SEC insider tracker, Swiss-Quant's /bloomberg page covers the widest set of Bloomberg-style panels at zero cost. OpenBB is the closest for programmatic access, and Koyfin for fundamental charting.

Is there a free stock screener with AI forecasts?

Swiss-Quant publishes daily AI forecasts (an XGBoost/LightGBM ensemble) next to a real-time technical screener, with every call scored publicly at its target date. Finviz, Koyfin, TradingView and Yahoo Finance do not publish AI price forecasts; WallStreetZen sells AI-based stock ratings on its paid plan.

Which free tool tracks SEC insider trading?

Swiss-Quant, Finviz and OpenInsider all expose SEC Form 4 filings for free. Yahoo Finance shows insider transactions per ticker but has no cross-market screener. Koyfin's and OpenBB's insider coverage depends on plan or data provider (not verified here).

Is any of these tools open source?

OpenBB is the only fully open-source project in this list (its Platform is on GitHub under AGPL-3.0). Swiss-Quant, Koyfin, Finviz, TradingView, Yahoo Finance and WallStreetZen are closed-source web products.

Is there a free quant trading platform for backtesting?

For backtesting, QuantConnect (free tier, open-source LEAN engine) and OpenBB are better fits. Swiss-Quant is not a backtesting engine: it gives you daily forecasts, downloadable data on /data-for-quant and public scoreboards, which you can use as inputs to your own research.
